When beginning cardio workouts, keep it slightly challenging. This will allow your body time to adjust to your increased activity level.  Gradually increase the challenge as what you are currently doing becomes easy.  When it's easy, it's time to add a little more effort or time. Take your activity level up gradually for the healthiest results and less soreness and chance of injury.
